Bad Install Detection
Raven now features improved detection for improper mounting. If the device is mounted incorrectly and the orientation remains unchanged for 2.5 minutes, an event will be triggered. During this time, Raven will suppress notifications for harsh cornering, aggressive acceleration, and harsh braking, so as not to consume excessive amounts of data or send erroneous notifications.
If a Raven in your account is improperly mounted, you will receive an Event in the Trip Exceptions panel when it's first detected, and on every engine on until resolved:
Key indicators of a bad installation:
- An X icon appears in the Raven’s information panel.
- The installation status shows "Bad installation detected", located under Add-Ins > Manage Ravens > Status.
Once Raven detects that it has been correctly mounted for 5 continuous minutes, it will resume all suppressed events and send a notification confirming that the bad installation has been cleared.
Raven's internal sensors are calibrated to compensate for minor misalignments. However, angles beyond the acceptable range will trigger a 'Bad Install' event.
